This record group consists of various records of the Michigan National Guard collected by the Public Information Division of the Michigan Department of Military Affairs. The record group includes: officer biographies (1947-1966), including prepared military and civilian histories, newspaper articles, and hometown news releases; addresses and speeches (1947-1970) given by the commanding officers of the Guard; news releases (1947-1970) concerning the activities of the Guard, encampments, personal information on officers and enlisted men, and other facts relating to military affairs; and photographs (ca. 1917, 1947-1966) of officers and chief warrant officers of the Army and Air Force who served with the Guard, Adjutant Generals of Michigan, and officer funerals and obituaries. Also includes photos of Nike missiles, Michigan army camp scenes during World War I, and the inauguration of Governor George Romney in 1963.
